Edward Mott Robinson was the father of Hetty Green. He was born in 1800 and died in 1865. He was a successful whaling agent, oil manufacturer, and Quaker from New Bedford, Massachusetts. His wife, Abby Howland Robinson, was also from a wealthy whaling family. Hetty Green, born Henrietta Howland Robinson, inherited a fortune from her father and became known as “The Witch of Wall Street” or “The Queen of Wall Street” for her financial success.
